Regulations. 1.Organization The México Sky Challenge (MSC) arises from the union of two prestigious organizers: Xtrail México and Trail Run Hidalgo. Together, they have created a competition that allows Sky Running lovers to challenge their limits and enjoy unique experiences in the skies of Mexico. This competition is not just another race, but one of the 21 world competitions on the circuit Merrell Skyrunner ® World Series, that will take place in 2024 to define the world champion by Sky. It attracts intrepid and fast runners, eager to achieve the distinction of being the best in the world in their discipline. Each race represents a true test of skill, endurance and bravery. At the Mexico Sky Challenge, we are committed to offering exciting events and promoting Sky culture throughout the country. Join us on this exciting adventure!  
  1. Definitions
  SKYRUNNING – Mountain running discipline, where the inclination exceeds 30% and the climbing difficulty does not exceed grade II. Canes and hands can be used to help progress.
  1. Distances
Mexico Sky Challenge is an event that includes four competitive mountain races, (35, 25, 14, 6k). Its performance is carried out mainly in mountain terrain, with a starting line and arrival.   Your participation in the 35k distance will count towards the ranking of the skyrunning world circuit.
  1. Rules
Each participant must know and accept the conditions of these regulations. By registering, each athlete declares to accept the content of these regulations. Any incident in the race will be resolved by the Mexico Sky Challenge Competition Jury.  
  1. Participation, requirements and general information
 
  • The races are open to all interested parties, in accordance with the provisions of these regulations.
  • Make your registration correctly, completing the form, as well as payment within 3 days after registration.
  • Deliver the declaration of responsibility, in the days prior to the race, on a date and place to be announced by the organization (see program). All documents can be downloaded on the official career website.
  • Participants must respect the environment in which they participate and keep it clean. All packaging from products consumed or other waste produced by athletes must be placed in the appropriate containers or carried with them. Failure to comply with this rule implies the immediate disqualification of the athlete. This can be done through a simple witness from any member of the race organization.
  • Participants must comply with the rules of use of public roads, and it is also mandatory to respect cultivated areas and private property in general. The Participants will be responsible for the damages they cause to third parties and the compensation derived from them.
  • Members of the organization will be present at the supply points that the organization establishes. As well as medical and/or relief services will also be available at various checkpoints.
  • Participants must have acquired, before the test, a real capacity for self-sufficiency, which allows the management of the problems induced by this type of test, in particular due to adverse weather conditions: wind, cold, fog, rain or snow.
  • Athletes participating in SKY 35 must be at least 18 years old on race day. For the distances of 25, 14, 6, athletes who are 16 years old at the end of 2024 are authorized to participate. To participate in these distances you will have to sign the respective parental authorization.
  • For the registration of athletes under 18 years of age in the 25, 14 and 6 kilometer races, it is mandatory to obey the following requirements together: the respective parental authorization mentioned below.
  • Participants must be aware of the distance and the particularities of the race and be sufficiently trained for it.
  • Participants will have to know how to deal with physical and mental problems resulting from extreme fatigue, digestive and joint problems, and muscle pain, among others, by being aware that it is not the organization’s role to help a participant overcome these problems and that this depends mainly on their ability to adapt to the situations derived from this type of race.
  • It is totally prohibited to receive help or any type of items outside the race course, with the exception of the points defined by the organization (100 meters before and after control). Likewise, it is prohibited to run accompanied by people who are not registered as athletes in the event.
  • The numbers will be delivered on the date and place to be announced by the organization. The check-in and collection of the Kit with the material provided by the organization must be carried out by the athlete himself, who must present the duly signed declaration of Responsibility and the identification document.
  • The bibs must be worn in the abdominal area in front at all times of the test, visibly and they cannot be cut, folded or modified. Failure to comply with this rule will lead to the athlete’s immediate disclassification.
  • During the entire course of the event, athletes have to follow the instructions of the members of the organization. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the immediate disqualification of the athlete.
  • During the race, any athlete who abandons the race is obliged to inform the organization.
  • Be a carrier of all the mandatory material defined by the organization.
  • In situations of a tie where two competitors cross the finish line simultaneously, a Partial Time Measurement will take place. This process involves reviewing the timed segments of the race to determine precisely whorecorded the fastest times in those specific sections, thus ensuring a fair resolution in case of equality.
  1. Registrations
  • Registration is personal and implies acceptance of all the rules established by the organization, described in the test regulations and in other additional indications .
  • Registration must be exclusively through the forms established on our website.
  • Each participant must correctly fill out the registration form and pay the registration fee, with the participant being responsible for the veracity of their data.< /span>
  • The organization is not responsible for any possible denial of liability by the insurer(s) resulting from incorrect introduction of the data in the registration form by the participant.
  • For registration to be accepted in the MSC 35k distance, a digital or printed certificate of completion of a mountain half marathon with a minimum positive slope of +1000m, the link for the test results, or the sports curriculum duly verified in the terms described in these regulations.
  • Registrations will only be validated after payment of the respective registration fee, which must be made within 3 days after registration.
  • Payment must be made when registering through debit or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express), or bank transfer ( only for athletes residing in Mexico).
  • After confirmation of payment, the name will appear on the registration list within 72 hours.
  • The registration period will be extended until the organization decides.
  • The organizing entity reserves the right to exclude from the race, even before its start, any participant who, through their behavior , condition the management and/or proper functioning of the test. If this occurs, the athlete will not be reimbursed for the expense incurred in registration.
  • In accordance with the VAT Code, the issuance of the receipt with identification of the intended tax number must be requested prior to the registration/payment act. , its issuance being possible.

  1. Registered
The organization will limit the total number of participants in the set of distances of the race. In this way, the registration period is conditioned by the number of athletes who register up to the limit of places for each event. Once the limit of places has been exceeded, a waiting list will be created to fill the empty places due to resignations that may occur until the payment deadline.
  1. Cancellation of registration
  • As of April 15, 2024, test alterations are not allowed.
  • Registration changes are allowed, as long as places are available. The alteration has an administrative fee of 100 pesos.
  • In the case of the alteration, whether for a test with a higher registration fee, the difference will be paid, with the values in force on the date of the change, added the value of the administrative fee. If it is for a test with a lower registration fee, there will be no refund of the difference, however you must pay the administrative fee.
  • Transfer of registration is allowed. For this, the currently registered participant must request, by e-mail to the organization, the transfer of their registration to the person to be registered (indicating full name email).
  • The person to whom the registration was assigned will be contacted by the organization to register in accordance with the instructions that will be provided.< /span>
  • The transfer of registration does not entitle the person transferring the registration to any refund.
  • The transfer of registration has an associated administrative cost of $100 for any test, which must be paid by the person transferring the registration.
  • After April 15, 2024, transfer of registration will not be permitted.
  • All participants are informed that, regardless of the weather conditions that may arise, there will be no refunds on registrations for the race. Even in the event of cancellation due to adverse weather conditions, this policy will remain in effect.
  1. Award:
  The Podium prizes for the distances of 25, 14 and 6k will be for the first 3 classified in each of the distances, with the exception of the absolute category of Mexico Sky Challenge 35k that will be up to place 10 (Male and Female). These prizes will not be cumulative at different distances, the prize recognitions will be awarded solely and exclusively to their winners, renouncing said recognition/prizes and being disqualified if they are not present at the podium delivery events. Any delegation to another person must be communicated and justified to the organization at least one hour in advance. The awards will be delivered in the “Finish Zone” at the time established by the organizer in the runner’s guide.   Award table SKY 35K

  To claim these prizes, the participant’s bib number must be presented along with a valid official identification. The prizes will be awarded at the time of the award ceremony.  
  1. Disqualifications
Participants who do not comply with these regulations, do not complete the entire route, cut off marked/marked trails, deteriorate or dirty the surroundings, do not carry their clearly visible bib or ignore the instructions of the Organization/Volunteers/Referees.  
  1. Route modifications
The Organization reserves the right to make modifications to the itinerary/schedules that it considers necessary based on the different conditions, as well as the suspension of the test if weather conditions or other causes of force majeure advise it. The Organization reserves the right to cancel the test if risk situations occur at the discretion of the organization that could endanger participants, volunteers and the organization. In no case will the amount of the registration fee be refunded.  
  1. Responsibility
Participants are obliged to help those injured and to respect traffic rules on road sections. The Organization declines all responsibility in the event of accident, negligence, as well as deterioration or loss of the objects of each runner. Participants exonerate the Organization from all liability in the event of an accident or injury. In any matter that is not contemplated in these regulations, the criteria of the Organization will be applied. However, there will be a medical service in the test.  
  1. Physical condition:
It is necessary to have the physical condition and state of health appropriate to the characteristics of this very tough test, which combines high mileage, long duration, mountain terrain, strong slopes, exposure to the sun and night, wind and rain.  
  1. Mandatory and Recommended Material:
Depending on weather conditions, participants may be required to wear a waterproof jacket with hood, long mesh, gloves, hat/bandana and sunglasses.   MANDATORY EQUIPMENT 35 K  
  • Mobile phone: with the battery fully charged, roaming activated and on throughout the test.
  • Thermal blanket: minimum surface that covers the body completely.
  • Windbreaker jacket: waterproof and breathable.
  • Whistle: the one from the backpack
  • Bottles, tank or bag (soft flask type) for water or hydrating drinks: with a minimum capacity of 1.5 liters.
  • Glass or container for liquids: at supply points there will be no disposable cups in order to avoid generating garbage ;
  • Competitor’s (dorsal) number: placed visibly, in front and above the clothing throughout the test.
  • Footwear: suitable for running on technical terrain mountain.

IMPORTANT: In case of abandonment, disqualification or arriving after the time cut-off, the runner’s number will be removed and/or marked. It is mandatory to wear appropriate footwear to perform the test. A material control will be carried out at the START and FINISH, as well as at any point along the route, with participants being obliged to submit to said material control, and may be penalized/disqualified.   To ensure a safe experience during the test or physical activity, we strongly recommend having health insurance. In the event of any incident, the race’s first aid team will provide initial assistance and transport the affected person to the nearest health post. It is important to note that in such situations the organization will not assume significant responsibility. The participant will carry out the related activities of his own will and at his own exclusive risk, assuming exclusive responsibility for his activities, property, health and physical and/or mental integrity, disclaiming all responsibility and expressly renouncing to make any type of claim against the organizers and/or sponsors
  1. Tips:
It is advisable to drink at all supply points and eat appropriately. Participants should consider the possibility of personally carrying additional liquids and/or solids. The test takes place in a protected area of great natural beauty, so it will be everyone’s obligation to preserve the environment. The abandonment of waste outside the control and/or provisioning areas means disqualification.  
  1. Security:
The organization of the race will have the logistical support of Civil Protection, Firefighters, Local Police, as well as competent organizations in maintaining the security of the event.  
  1. Protection of the natural environment:
This race promotes care for the environment,
  • Placement of waste bins at all supplies and at the finish line.
  • Glasses will not be given at the supplies or in the finish area, each runner must carry their container of liquid.
  • The signage for marking the route is made with marks that are recycled, in addition this will be marked with reusable flags and signage.
  • Recycling of all waste originating from the test (water bottles, beer and soft drink cans, cardboard and paper, paper cups)
  • Use of cloth bags in the delivery of the kits for each runner.
  • Elimination of the plastic bag where the t-shirts we give away are usually packaged.
  • Maintenance of cleaning and clearing the paths where the race takes place.
  • Collaboration with the city council on the cleaning days of our mountain range.
 
  1. Data protection: We comply with the Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties in Mexico, which requires that entities in charge of collecting personal information inform individuals about how Your data will be used. Participants, by providing their data, give their consent to be included in an automated list owned by the organization.
The Organization will have exclusive rights to images, photographs, videos and information of the test that may include the participants. Additionally, you have the right to use this material for advertising, public relations or other journalistic or promotional purposes of the event. Obtaining consent from the Organization is a prerequisite for any media or advertising project. By registering for the test, participants transfer their data and give their consent for the organization to use it in the management of the competition and for any promotional purposes related to their participation in the same. This includes activities involving sponsors or event collaborators. Those who request it can exercise their rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition of their data and images by email addressed to contacto@skychallenge.mx. The database generated by México Sky Challenge will be shared with SkyMan SA, organizer of the Merrell Skyrunner® World Series, for the purpose of sharing information about the series.  
  1. Acceptance of the regulations:
All participants must know these regulations. It is considered that the fact of registering and participating in the test means acceptance of it, as well as the final provisions that the Organization may be forced to take. For everything not contemplated in these regulations, the test will be based on the ISF (International Skyrunning Federation) Regulations. This test will be controlled by international referees from the ISF (International Skyrunning Federation).
