SKY 14K

The Sky 14 K route takes place in the area near the city of Orizaba, a destination known for its rich culture and traditions. Orizaba, declared a magical town, offers a unique historical and cultural setting, where runners can experience the authentic essence of Mexico.

Technical Characteristics of the Route:

  • Total Distance: 14 kilometers.
  • Elevation difference: 1,007 positive meters and 1,007 negative meters, a considerable challenge that tests resistance and skill at varied altitudes.
  • Altitude Range: From 1,236 meters to 1,675 meters above sea level, which requires specific preparation to face changes in altitude.
  • Technical Level: High. Despite its shorter distance, the route presents significant technical challenges, with sections requiring advanced skills.
  • Surface and Terrain: The route includes a variety of terrain, from forested trails to mountainous areas with lush vegetation, typical of the Orizaba region.

Natural and Ecological Aspects:

Flora and Fauna: Participants will have the opportunity to observe the diversity of local flora and fauna, in a rich and varied natural environment.

Weather conditions:

Runners must be prepared to face changing weather along the route, with temperatures and conditions varying with altitude.

Relevance and Effort:

Although shorter in distance than other routes, the 14 km of the “Mexico Sky Challenge” offer a special and demanding route, demonstrating that the intensity and challenge do not always depend on the length of the route.

Recommendations and Preparation:

  • Adequate physical and technical preparation is recommended, in accordance with the challenges that the route presents.
  • The right equipment is essential, including trail running shoes, clothing for different weather conditions, and hydration systems.
  • Knowledge of orientation, first aid and mountain safety practices are important for a safe and enjoyable experience.

IMPORTANT: In case of abandonment, disqualification or arriving after the time cut, the runner’s number will be removed and/or marked.

PROFILE

NOTE: In case of adverse weather, the recommended equipment will be activated.

  • Mobile phone: with the battery fully charged, roaming activated and on throughout the test.
  • Thermal blanket: minimum surface that covers the body completely.
  • Windbreaker jacket: waterproof and breathable.
  • Whistle: the one with the backpack
  • Bottles, tank or bag (soft flask type) for water or hydrating drinks: with a minimum capacity of 1.5 liters.
  • Glass or container for liquids: at supply points there will be no disposable cups in order to avoid generating garbage ;
  • Competitor’s (dorsal) number: placed visibly, in front and above the clothing throughout the test.
  • Footwear: suitable for running on technical terrain mountain.
  • Canes: for mountain areas.
  • Front light: in perfect working order and with charged batteries.

  • Electrolytes and/or mineral salts, bars, gels, fruit…
  • Mini first aid kit, with material to heal small wounds, cuts or grazes, as well as antihistamines (avapena), anti-inflammatories and analgesics.< /span>
